Ingredients
  

  • 4 medium apples (preferably Granny Smith)
  • 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Peel, core, and slice apples. Toss with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Add raisins and nuts if desired.
  • Roll out puff pastry and place apple mixture along one edge.
  • Roll the pastry around the apples and seal the edges.
  • Brush with egg wash and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
  • Let it cool slightly, slice, and serve with powdered sugar or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Notes:

  • You can freeze unbaked strudel for up to 3 months. Bake directly from frozen, adding 5-10 extra minutes to the bake time.
  • For a lighter alternative, use phyllo dough instead of puff pastry.
  • Optional: Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
